Guennadi E. Miram

Graduated from Kiev Institute of Foreign Languages.

Worked as an interpreter in the Middle East.

Received his master`s degree in philology from Moscow Military Institute of Foreign Languages and his Ph.D. in computational linguistics from Moscow Pedagogical University in 1984 and 1994, accordingly. Developed linguistic concept of the English-Russian MT system “SIMPAR” intended for translation of patent titles (The MT system “SIMPAR” was put into operation at Moscow Research Institute of Patent Information).

From 1998 gives courses of lectures ‘Theory and Practice of Translation` and ‘Interpretation Practice` at the Institute of International Relations of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University.

From 1980 works as a free-lance simultaneous interpreter at international conferences, seminars, government events, including "East-West" Congress in Helsinki, Finland; press-conference of the First CIS Summit in Kiev; technical conference in Rotterdam, the Netherlands; 1994-2004 OECD and UNIDO Seminars in Istanbul, Turkey; ILO Regional Workshops (Alma-Ata, Bishkek, Ankara); Regional Veterinary Epidemiology Workshop of 1995 (Ankara, Turkey); Kuchma-Gore Bilateral Commission Meeting of 1998; TACIS law seminars; The First Eastern European Congress on Orthopedics and Arthroscopy of 2009 (Warsaw, Poland). Working languages – Russian, English, Ukrainian.

Writes fiction.
